You saw two twenty-two on the clock this morning. Then you saw it on your coffee receipt. Then it was the number of unread emails in your inbox. And now you’re here… wondering… is that a sign? Or am I just seeing things?

You’re listening to Angel Numbers Decoded. I’m Jessica Leto.

This is the question I get asked more than any other. More than “what does this number mean?” More than “are angel numbers real?” The question people really want answered is… how do I know if it’s actually a sign?

And I’m going to give you an honest answer. Not a mystical one. An honest one.

Let me start with a story. A few years ago, a woman reached out to me. She was seeing seven seventy-seven everywhere. On clocks. On receipts. On highway mile markers. She’d been seeing it for three weeks straight and she was convinced the universe was sending her a message about her career. She wanted to quit her job and start a healing practice.

I asked her one question. I said… when you see seven seventy-seven… what happens in your body?

She paused. Then she said… honestly? Nothing. I just notice it and think… there it is again.

And I told her… that might just be a pattern your brain is tracking. Not every repeated number is a message. Sometimes a clock is just a clock.

She wasn’t happy with that answer. But it was the truth. And I’d rather give you the truth than a comfortable lie.

So let me walk you through my framework. Three indicators that separate a real angel number message from ordinary pattern recognition.

The first is frequency. This is the most obvious one. If you see a number once… it’s a coincidence. If you see it twice… it’s interesting. If you see it three or more times in a short period… days, not weeks… you’ve crossed the threshold from coincidence into pattern.

But frequency alone is not enough. Our brains are pattern-recognition machines. That’s literally what they evolved to do. Once you notice a number… your brain starts scanning for it. That’s not the universe. That’s your reticular activating system doing its job.

So frequency gets you to the door. But it doesn’t open it.

The second indicator is timing. This is where it gets real. An angel number message doesn’t just appear randomly throughout your day. It appears at a specific moment. The moment you’re thinking about a decision. The moment you’re worrying about someone. The moment you’re asking yourself a question.

You’re lying in bed wondering whether to end the relationship… and you roll over and the clock says four forty-four. You’re sitting in your car after a job interview, hands on the steering wheel, wondering if you should have said something different… and the odometer reads one eleven.

That’s timing. The number arrives precisely when you’re in the middle of something that matters. And that timing is the universe’s fingerprint. It’s how you know the message was sent.

I’ve tracked this in my own life for twenty years. The numbers that turned out to matter were never random sightings. They were perfectly timed interruptions. As if someone tapped me on the shoulder at exactly the right moment and said… look.

The third indicator is feeling. And this is the one most people overlook. It’s also the most reliable.

When a number is genuinely a message… your body responds. It might be subtle. A slight chill. A warmth in your chest. A sudden stillness, like the world went quiet for half a second. Or it might be obvious. A gut punch. A lump in your throat. A feeling of recognition so strong it stops you in your tracks.

That feeling… that’s your body confirming what your mind is still arguing about. I always say… pay attention to how your body feels when you see it. That’s data.

If you see a number and feel nothing… it might just be a number. If you see a number and something moves inside you… even something you can’t name… that’s the message arriving.

Now let me talk about what trips people up.

The biggest trap is wanting it too badly. When you’re desperate for a sign… when you’re in the middle of a crisis and you need the universe to tell you what to do… you start seeing messages in everything. Every number is a sign. Every coincidence is divine. And that’s not guidance. That’s anxiety wearing a spiritual costume.

I’ve been there. After my divorce… I was so desperate for direction that I turned every number into a prophecy. I saw three thirty-three on a receipt and decided it meant I should move to a new city. It didn’t mean that. It meant I was scared and looking for someone else to make my decisions for me.

Here’s the rule I live by. If you have to convince yourself it’s a sign… it’s not a sign. Real signs don’t need your help. They announce themselves. They’re clear. They’re undeniable. You don’t have to squint at them or argue for them. You just know.

And yes… I know “you just know” sounds annoyingly vague. But it’s the truth. There’s a difference between knowing and wanting to know. And the more you practice paying attention… the easier it becomes to tell them apart.

Another thing that trips people up is single sightings. Someone sees one eleven once and immediately looks up the meaning and restructures their entire life around it. That’s not how this works. One sighting is an introduction. It’s the universe saying hello. The conversation doesn’t start until the number comes back. Wait for it to come back. If it does… then pay attention. If it doesn’t… let it go.

And finally… context matters. The same number can mean different things to different people at different times. Four forty-four for someone building a business means “keep going, the foundation is solid.” Four forty-four for someone staying in a relationship out of fear means “this stability is a trap and you know it.”

The number is the word. Your life is the sentence. You can’t understand the word without reading the sentence.

So practically speaking… what should you do?

Start a number journal. I know I say this a lot but it’s because it works. Every time a number catches your attention… write down three things. The number. What you were thinking or feeling when you saw it. And what your body did.

After two weeks… look at the journal. Patterns will emerge. Not in the numbers. In you. You’ll start to see which numbers appear when you’re anxious. Which ones show up when you’re aligned. Which ones follow you during transitions.

That journal becomes your personal translation guide. More useful than anything I can tell you on this podcast. Because the numbers speak differently to different people. And your journal is the record of how they speak to you.

Next… practice the pause. When a number appears and your body responds… stop. Just for five seconds. Don’t immediately grab your phone and look up the meaning. Sit with the feeling first. Let your body tell you what it already knows. Then look it up. But let the felt sense come first.

And finally… let some numbers go. Not everything is a message. And that’s okay. The universe doesn’t need you to be in receiving mode twenty-four hours a day. Sometimes a clock is a clock. Sometimes a receipt is a receipt. The real messages will be unmistakable. Everything else… let it pass.

I want to close with something Elena used to do. When a woman would come to her kitchen table and ask about a sign she’d seen… Elena would always ask the same thing. She’d put her hand on the woman’s hand and say… did you feel it here? And she’d touch her own chest.

If the woman said yes… Elena would nod and say… then it’s real.

If the woman hesitated… Elena would smile and say… not yet. But keep watching.

Keep watching. That’s what I’ll tell you too.

If this found you today… it was supposed to. Share it with someone who needs to hear it. I’ll see you next time.
